This site has been created to offer information that may be helpful in your decision to seek psychotherapy, counseling, or consultation services. Please explore, and feel free to contact me with any questions.
WHAT I DO
I offer both brief and long term psychotherapy and counseling to adults and adolescents. I also work with diverse kinds of couples at all stages of relationship. Areas of specialty include:
Depression, Anxiety
Relational Issues
Sexuality
Loss
Stage of Life Transitions
Drawing from over 30 years of professional experience and training, I believe that there is no one way to live, nor can there be only one standard of emotional well being. I prefer to shape my therapeutic approach to reflect the needs, goals, and personal life situation of each individual. It is as important to me that each individual feel respected as be understood.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
I received a Master's Degree in Social Service from the Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and Social Research in 1975, and attended Bryn Mawr as a recipient of a full scholarship from the National Institute of Mental Health.
I graduated summa cum laude from Temple University in 1973, where I was named a Presidential Scholar and a member of the Honor Society.
I have post graduate training in a broad range of modalities, including:
relationship and sex therapy
hypnotherapy
creative arts therapy
pain management
Continuing education and training are vital in bringing the best resources to each therapy and counseling session. My practice is enriched by the reading, research, and ongoing training that I pursue on a regular basis.
EXPERIENCE
In addition to being in full time private practice since 1980, past professional positions have included Counselor and Teacher at an alternative private high school; Director of a bilingual women's program at a community mental health center; Community Planner for public works projects in Spain; and Clinical Social Worker at family service agency.
